Jim... looking at your swing picture above I would say widen your stance, try a lot at first. That should restrict your hip turn and shorten the back swing. It might allow for more coil and increased power. It also looks like your swing goes up more than around. Just the position of your upper body makes me thing you went inside going back and straight up with the club. Try going straight back more and get more rotary with your swing and get your right elbow lower and you won't over swing. Just my opinion.

Wow, I just about forgot about this. I took lessons from a great pro in Tucson. He taught me to use my body more in my swing. He got me to turn better and the results have been great, I've been more consistent. He did get me away from releasing the club with my hands, just pretty much a body release. I have recently added a hand release which helped me pickup 20-30 yards off the tee and a club in distance with the irons. I'm starting to overuse the swing thought though so I need to figure out what to do. Dumb game anyways, you always have to work hard at it.

Hey Jim, well if you're like me and live in the south-central plains you're praying for one ( yes please, just one) day without rain. Last time I did play though, my short game was killin'. It did rain on us that day which was a new experience for me and I kinda came apart then. Gotta work on different playing environs.

Thanks for inviting me. Also thanks for the great blog links. I've checked out a few of them already. Not sure I can be of any help with the over swing. Just get a little older and your natural stiffness will take care of it. LOL.

Hey Jim, just got your invite...thanks. I can't find any video of your swing to be able to help, but if the picture at the top is any hint, then there are a couple of things you can do. E-mail me if you're interested.

About Me:
I am the founder and CEO of 19th Hole Productions (home of 19thHole.com).

I have a background in Web Development and Design (though I am NOT an artist by any stretch). I have been working on 19thHole.com, in its many different forms, since 1992.

I have been playing golf regularly since 1985. My handicap has been as low as 6 and as high as 24. Sadly, right now I am hovering around 18. It seems the closer I get to figuring it out, the further away I am.

But I still keep playing. Because there's always at least one shot in a round that keeps me coming back. Golf is a game that I love to hate. And that is why I keep playing. Because some day, yes, someday I will figure it out.

too many for what my handicap is :(

Anyone have a cure for this mess?

I just can't make it stop at parallel. Needless to say, it's causing "some" inconsistency in my game. And it's not just the driver.

I'm fine on the range...but when I play...whew! My backswing is like the Energizer Bunny.

My Most Memorable Round of Golf

I received a message today from a 19thHole.com member asking me what my most memorable shot in golf was.

I'm sorry to say that I don't have that many shots that were memorable enough to store. I've had two "almost" aces, each of which hit the pin
and bounced off.

I've had three 100+ yard hole-outs for Eagle and a number of drive-the-green par 4s.

But
there's one round that sticks in my head. In my Club Championship
several y
